Lights,
camera, action!
We
helped two young apprentices become headline news when we alerted
BBC TV to the success of a new vocational scheme for pupils at five
Derbyshire schools. Thirty two pupils had completed their engineering
studies with our client NLT Training Services and over three quarters
of them had secured full time Apprenticeships with local businesses
at the end of the course. The documentary showed the value of vocational
training and how it helps stimulate interest in an industry that
is suffering from the skills shortage.
We invited BBC TV to produce a documentary about the success of
the programme, which involved filming Jamie Shinfield and Robert
Dods at their new workplace – R&D Tool and Engineering
in Derbyshire. Jamie, Robert and their manager John Brown achieved
their fifteen minutes of fame, which resulted in a tremendous response
from colleagues, local businesses and customers.
“Jamie and Robert did really well and appeared confident and
relaxed on screen,” explains Marina Wood of Dragonfly PR.
“They seemed to take everything in their stride and it certainly
resulted in some great publicity for their company as well as for
our client NLT. Well done!”
