BALLOONS RELEASED FOR 21st BIRTHDAY FUNDRAISER
Dragonfly PR helped to raise funds for local charity South Yorkshire
Community Foundation, recently by organizing a balloon release in
Rotherham town centre.
Staff had been selling tickets to business contacts, friends and
family for weeks, which culminated in the agency selling the remaining
tickets in Rotherham town centre prior to the balloon release, with
a £100 cash prize offered for the balloon that travels the
furthest.
Balloons were also released simultaneously from two other locations:
Asda on Old Mill Lane in Barnsley and City Hall in Sheffield, raising
a total of £3,000 for the charity that supports local voluntary
groups.
“We have had huge support for this event, not just from businesses,
but from local people,” explained Claire Dempster from South
Yorkshire Community Foundation. “We gathered an enormous crowd
just before the release and with it been such a windy day, we expect
the balloons could travel hundreds of miles! We would like to thank
all our volunteers and our supporters for assisting in raising badly-needed
funds for local worthy causes.”
In the last 12 months, South Yorkshire Community Foundation delivered
over £1.9 million to nearly 500 community groups who are using
the funds to make a real difference in their local community.
The charity is currently managing the South Yorkshire Flood Disaster
Relief Fund to alleviate the hardship and suffering of thousands
of people affected by the recent floods.
